3rd Flood in 11 Days At Cator Lane - 25th June 2007

Prolonged overnight rain caused the Open Space between Cator Lane and Bramcote Lane to flood again at the Cator Lane end for the 3rd time in 11 days

The water almost reaches one house that hasn't been provided with flood gates.

Severn Trent arrive; the fire brigade were too busy.

The flood gates for one of the unfortunate residents prove ineffective again.

The car park at Greenwood Court starts to flood.

This time the water floods down the side of Greenwood Court

Raw sewage floods out of the manhole cover at Greenwood Court to make the problem much more serious.

The water heads towards the Grove Avenue Allotments.

Each of the Servern Trent tankers can hold up to 2000 gallons. They filled 6 or 7 to move the water elsewhere.

The water floods off the Open Space on to Cator Lane

The bottom end of the Open Space i.e. the location of the proposed Cator Lane Tram Stop.

The water on the Open Space reaches 7.5" deep

The water floods on to the Open Space

The force of the head of water lifts the heavy manhole cover.

Plenty of standing water in the small wood at Bramcote Lane end of the Open Space.

The water enters the culvert to go under Bramcote Lane and along the Open Space. The builders have been removing blockages from the gate to keep the water flowing.

The swollen stream as it heads towards the culvert.

Picture showing how close the flooded stream is to the new build on Bramcote Lane. Is there room for a tram here?

Surface water just past Sandy Court.

The swollen stream behind Sandy Court i.e. right where the proposed tram route runs.

Over a mini weir.

Plenty of surface water between Sandby Court and Eskdale Drive

The water floods over the top of this filter gate and completely hides a drain coming from the properties on Holkham Avenue

The forked stem of this tree is well under water.

The water goes totally over the top of this filter gate.

So much water that it finds its way around the side of the first filter gate.

The open stream on Eskdale Playing Fields.

The culvert on Eskdale Playing Fields. The water fills the culvert to over half way, indicating there is still plenty more water heading for Cator Lane.
