Land Exchange Objection - 21st January 2008

21st January 2008

Land Exchange - Another chance to object! - Urgent!!!

Nottingham County Council and Nottingham City Council have applied to the Govt to purchase various peices of open space land for the tram route. This land includes, amongst other, common land that is part of Bramcote Lane Open Space and common land land adjacent to Eskdale Drive and Inham Road. It also covers the Clifton via Wilford route.

Part of the purchase process is that the general public are given chance to object to the purchase (and this could give rise to another public inquiry) and that also other land is given in exchange with sub-conditions that the exchange land is 'not less than in area' and 'equally advantageous, normally to existing users or in some cases to the wider public.'

You may have noticed that notices have been put up along the affected areas. If you haven't seen one, there is a copy here (in word .doc format)

click here for revised issue... (click here for first issue...)

There is also further information from the 'TWA Guide to Procedures' about exchange land - click here ...

The exchange land will be taken somewhere from Wheatgrass Farm where the electricity pylons are near Teesdale Court and Field Lane. We are not exactly sure of the layout but think it will be something like the following diagram. The area will be developed in to a play area and a 'tram theme' has been suggested - can you believe it!

Action to take:

Write to the following address, quoting reference EMP 3000/119/2 by 15th February 2008:

Housing and Planning Team,
Government Office for the East Midlands,
The Belgrave Centre,
Stanley Place,
Talbot Street,
Nottingham.
NG1 5GG

Email: planning@goem.gsi.gov.uk

Please write a letter of complaint stating your objection about the change of use of the land and why you don't think the exchange land is 'equally advantageous' to you. It might also be worth complaining that the TWA procedure has not been adhered to in that this application should have been made prior to the main TWA application and the public inquiry which has just finished. What other TWA procedures have NET not adhered to?
